Process media supply and disposal

In many cases the thermal treatment of samples in high temperature furnaces requires defined atmospheres or vacuum.
In some cases, streaming gases are to be heated which then come out of the working space in a hot state.
Hot gases and reaction products coming out of the equipment have to be discharged and – if necessary – be cooled or after-treated.
Sensitive components, in particular furnace seals, reactors and other accessories must be cooled.
When samples are changed frequently, the furnaces must be cooled down quickly.
For all these requirements, HTM offers their furnaces with adapted devices for process media supply and disposal, if necessary with media flow control and safety switches. We can also provide an exhaust gas after-treatment by post-combustion and/or absorption.

Examples

Process media supplies for laboratory tube furnace, gas tight, SO3 resistant, with gas flow control
(Rotary tube furnace AU07-0-111)

  • 4 SWAGELOK gas inlet connectors / 6 mm (for O2, Ar, H2, N2) with hand valves;
  • The gases are transmitted via 2 MFC's (Bronkhorst xxx), optionally for O2 or Ar
    and for H2 or N2;
  • Connection of additional gases (without control) or vacuum pump possible;
  • The gas supply is designed for a primary pressure of up to 3 bar;
  • Exhaust connector at the furnace housing (Ø ca. 80 mm) for connection to the local exhaust system;

Laboratory rotary furnace for batch operation under defined gases,
with a 2-phase vaporizing unit

(Rotary tube furnace AU07-0-062)

  • The water supply for the 2-phase vaporizer is controlled by a liquid MFC with SWAGELOK connectors (8 mm);
  • For the inlet gas connection (3 gases) to the gas MFC's, SWAGELOK connectors (6 mm) are provided. The gas supply is designed for a primary pressure of up to 3 bar;
  • On customers request, the MFC in the control unit for one of the gases is connected in parallel to liquid MFC L30, thus enabling the control of either a third gas or of the water supply flow rate for the second phase of the vaporizer.

Vacuum melting furnace
(Melting furnace AU06-0-161)

  • In the vacuum melting furnace, the recipient, the sealing flange and the flange of the furnace cover are cooled with cooling water. The cooling water supply of these three parts is connected in series, thus only one inlet and one outlet exist.
  • A small flange CF40 is provided for the connection of the vacuum pump/s and the process gas inlet and outlet. The user must install the gas supply system and ensure that the gas outlet includes a relief pressure valve for about 100 to 200 mbar.
  • The gas for gassing the melt is fed through a hose port with quick connectors (6 mm). The pressure of this gas must be controlled so that the melt is prevented from flowing into the central channel of the push rod.
